"Oh, it's a snug little island!
A right little, tight little island."

 -Thomas John Dibdin,
              "The Snug Little Island"

We came to Alameda a awhile ago after many years in San Francisco. It hadn't been our desire to leave, but the prospect of a tripling of our rent made up our minds for us. After weeks of searching the East Bay for a new home we were invited by a friend to come and visit her in Alameda. All we knew about the island was it had been home to a naval air station until the facility was shut down some years before. This tiny sliver of information only seemed to confirm our cosmopolitan prejudice that there was little of interest here. What fools we were to be so smug and how surprised we were to discover it.
The day of our visit found us boarding a bus at the Trans-Bay Terminal. Soon we were whisked to our destination at Park and Encinal.

Over time the table below will begin to fill with links to pages about our new found home. There is a loose order to them, but it needn't be followed as each section is complete unto itself. Feel free to amble through them as you wish.
