Rocky's original "mission statement":
COURT LOCATION AND AVAILABILITY The courts are located at Univ of Berkeley's Clark Kerr campus. There are two sand courts with nets and fences to keep the balls in overshadowed by redwoods in Tilden park. They're available to outsiders without reservation when not being used for official functions (they'll be used by summer camps mid-June to beg-Aug except for lunch time 12-1). I attach a map showing court location. LEVEL OF PLAY I'd like to play at a level where we're attempting to dig, set, and spike regularly. Spiking skills are generally the hardest to develop so if you can't spike yet, that's not the end of the world but I'd like to avoid recreational-level play ("just getting the ball over the net is good enough for me--why should I pass it to my teammate"). TEAM SIZE I'd like to get started soon. It's warm enough and fewer people are using the courts now. Probably best to have as many people as possible to provide variety, rests, simultaneous games, and to make up for noshows/latecomers. I've had responses from the following. If you know of additional players, please forward them this message and let me know their name, email, phone, ability level/interest, and schedule. If I don't already know your phone number, please let me know. If you'd like to keep it off this mailing list, I'm happy to do so but email isn't very good for last-minute rescheduling issues. |
