Tackhead Minstrel Banjo
During the Minstrel period of American popular
music, banjoists played fret-less, goat skin headed banjos that were tuned
lower and used gut strings. The heads were stretched wet and tacked down
to the pot. No adjustable hardware -- so...Much Grief on a muggy day. Mr.
Rioso's updated version uses a fiberskin plastic head to cancel the humidity
problem, and nylon strings instead of gut. Fret markers are optional. Don't
you cry for me, Suzanna. This is the banjo Stephen Foster came from Alabama
