I've been playing the trumpet for 32 years. Music is a part of my every day life. Practicing ,playing ,teaching , and even composing, thanks to Cybersound Studio. I play a Bach 37 trumpet with a medium large bore. Check out Bach trumpets at the Bach trumpet Museum. If you're having problems with your horn, visit the Brass Musical Instrument Repair web site. . Would you like to take music lessons, but can't aford it? Take an online course @ Jazclass. It's free! Learn about scales, chords, styles..... From beginners to hackers to professionals. If you have cash you could attend the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute. Great faculty, some of the best classical players in the US. I believe to learn to play Jazz, you also have to listen to the great players and imitate them. Don't get me wrong, theory is very important. But you have got to fall on your face a few times to get better. Its also good for your ear to transcribe solos. If you can transcribe a John Coltrane solo I think that makes you a pretty good musician. If you can play the solo you transcribed I think thats makes you a pretty good player. Most good players have a routine as part of their practice. If you would like to know what other trumpet players practice, try Trumpet Talk. The current subject is warmups. There's also a section on endurance.
Dizzy Pictured here is one of the baddest trumpeters of all time, Dizzy!
