Abstract: This workshop will focus on ego-state therapy as a strategic method to repair post-traumatic fragmentation, dissociative and attachment difficulties, intractable mindbody symptoms such as chronic and atypical pain. Participants will review hypnotic techniques and other methods useful for work with ego states connected with various post-traumatic symptoms, including malevolent and destructive states, techniques for activating internal resources through ego strengthening, and ways of promoting integration. Special topics include: Crucial aspects of the therapeutic relationship, including positive utilization of the transference-countertransference trance, and the use of advanced applications of ego-state therapy to treat anxiety disorders, grief reactions, and racial and sexual orientation distress in children and adolescents. Our format will include lecture, live and video demonstration, and case consultation.
