Dear DIA, I have been busy with my own building but am anxious to become a part of
the energy that will make the Dimond shine again as it once did. I
have been encouraged to participate by my friend from work, Anne N., a
past president of the DIA. Hope to see you all soon.
I and my brother are new homeowners here in the
Dimond district. We purchased the "castle" 4 plex on the corner of
School and Champion Streets. I am not new to the
area though. My grandparents built their home in the Dimond district in
the 1920's and as a child I knew this area especially that large empty
store on Fruitvale when it was a hub of household activity and goods as
Sprouse-Reitz 5 and dime store....when the streets were clean and the
sidewalks swept by the merchants.
