April D.I.A. meeting
At the April meeting of the Dimond Improvement Association, we got busy with plans for a revitalized and reorganized group. Here are the main decisions we made.Fewer Meetings
We voted to revise the by-laws so that the DIA Board would meet two times per year (more often as needed) and the DIA general membership would meet four times per year (more often as needed).Outreach
Sam Cohen has drafted a flyer that will let people know about the DIA. A black-and-white copy of the draft is enclosed with your newsletter; please e-mail comments to Sam at sam@energy-solution.com. At our May meeting we will review a final draft of the flyer, and we will discuss how to get it out to as many Dimond households as possible.Dues
Now that we are back on track, we must collect 2001 dues. A dues form is enclosed with your newsletter; please take a few moments to send in a check.Election
We decided to elect new officers and board members at our May meeting. Nominations will be made both from the floor and by a nominating committee.Bylaws
In addition to reducing the minimum number of meetings per year, we voted in favor of some other changes in the DIA Corporation bylaws. These changes include a clarification of our purpose, to underline the point that the DIA is for everyone in Dimond, not just homeowners. All the changes to the bylaws will be reviewed at the May meeting.

New Newsletter Editor
I am delighted to report that Jewels Marcus has volunteered to become the new editor of the DIA newsletter. The next issue will be her first. Karen Schroeder will continue to maintain the mailing list and print the labels, and Verne Vinella will continue her work as folder, labeler, stamper, and mailer extraordinaire. As many of you know by now, the web site is back! In the coming months I will be working with Tim Chapman to encourage people to send news in to the site. I've greatly enjoyed my nearly four years doing the newsletter; here's hoping Jewels will have as much fun doing it as I have! --Janet Broughton
