On June 28th Council Member Richard Spees, the Hillcrest owner, David Chou, and representatives from neighborhood groups met for the second summit on the Hillcrest Motel.

Substantial improvements had been achieved since the first meeting.

  1. The hundred foot yellow sign which towered above the neighborhood for years had been removed.
  2. The sign on Boston Avenue was refurbished.
  3. An armed security service was hired and is doing nightly patrols.
  4. A gate limiting access at the Lincoln-MacArthur corner had been installed
  5. A landscape designer has been contracted by the owner.

The third Hillcrest neighborhood summit will be in October, 1999.
