I have lived in Dimond District all my life. I am now in my 60s. Never had I heard the term "The Dimond". Where does this come from? As children we walked to Dimond, we shopped in Dimond, etc. I see in the Metro that Laurel has also become The Laurel. Really don't care for this reference to beloved Dimond.
