Dimond Message Board
Tim Chapman
At a March 2nd meeting at Dimond Recreation Center, the city consulted with about 30 Dimond neighbors on the proposed Sausal Creek restoration project.
I attended the meeting and want to thank the city employees for a informative meeting. They used professionally produced graphics, and the knowledgeable speakers where able to explain the restoration options to us.
In addition to meetings, I would like to see the City share information with our neighborhood by using the Internet.
- The Public Works Agency has a web site at
http://www.oaklandpw.com - This is what is currently listed as new:
- "NEW! We've recently added the upcoming (9/18)Creek to Bay Day 1999"
It would be very easy to put all the information that was presented at the March 2nd meeting on the Public Works web site. The many neighbors who couldn't come to the meeting would have a chance to see it. A notice about this could be posted near the computers at Dimond Library so that Dimond neighbors who aren't on the Internet could also see this important information.
If the City is somehow is unable to do this, it could have the company that is developing the restoration plan put it on their web site.
A Tribune article about the meeting ends with this:
- "To comment on the project or request further information, contact the City of Oakland Watershed Program, 250 Frank Ogawa Plaza, Suite 5301, 238-6600."
