RECOGNIZING THE WEEK OF MAY 7 -13, 2000
AS A MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY SYNDROME AWARNESS WEEK

The week of May 7 -13, 2000 is recognized as Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome Awareness Week. MCSS is caused by inhalation of numerous chemicalfumes while performing a job. Individuals with MCSS need help, assistance, understanding, and support from all members of society, employers,co-workers, medical professionals, and governmental agencies at all levels to help them cope with the significant and pervasive life style changes imposed by this acquired disorder.

MCSS is a known and officially recognized nationally as a very severe and chronic condition caused by known and unknown neurotoxic exposures. Individuals suffering from MCSS should enjoy access to work, schooling, public facilities, and other settings where they can contribute their experiences, skills, knowledge, ideas, and creativity.

The Senate of the Twentieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii hereby recognizes the week of the May 7 - 13, 2000, as a MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY SYNDROME AWARNESS WEEK, and expresses its appreciation to Senator Suzanne Chun Oakland for her efforts to help persons with multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome.
