  regarding fragrance sensitivity and accommodations in the
  workplace. There has been a steady increase in cases related to

  While the title is intriguing, this section deals only with pregnancy and age discrimination.
  I guess those who are still gainfully employed, not pregnant and not "too old" don't have a right
  to breath air unpolluted by modern synthetic scents, pesticides and various other high-
  emitting VOC (volatile organic compound) products, for which there are ample alternatives.
  And even pregnant women could be forced to breathe air so polluted, basaed on the fact that an
  employer could point to that phrase, "recognized hazards." Yet another example of that axiom,

  Note to the chemically sensitive: Because this program includes many references to
  chemical sensitivity or problems with pesticides, I think it is worth asking your family
  and friends to watch it because they may be more sympathetic to your problems when
  they hear Gulf War veterans describing their sensitivity to things like perfume.
  Diane Dulka, whose husband Joseph died of pancreatic cancer three years after the war,
  will read a passage describing how he spent 12 hours a day spraying lindane on
  Iraqi prisoners in a closed tent to delouse them. Another section she will read states:
  "Another thing that seemed unusual was that he had developed a strong sensitivity to
  odors. He just couldn't stand to smell things like perfume or pesticide or gasoline."
  Bobby Lawson's segment will include this passage: "I'm sensitive to a lot of chemicals
  now too. There's many times when I walk into a department store or a place like that,
  and I smell an odor and my body would just react. I have to leave right away
  because I start shaking and sweating." Pat Browning states during the program: "Since
  I've returned from the Gulf War I can't be around paint fumes; they make me really
  sick. Bleach also bothers me now, and I can no longer wear perfume."
  
  Two veterans with ALS (LouGehrig's disease) also describe pesticide exposures that they believe put them over the edge from Gulf War syndrome into ALS.

    "won" Gulf War I. It takes the personal histories from 24 veterans and brings you into their lives

    by our government . . . the very government they served.
    
    Time has passed and we have GW II with more service people ill and injured (which is not to take
    away from the memory of all of the people on both sides whose lives have been savagely taken).
    But, again, we have people who have served who are not being served. Same is true for our
    heros of 9-11. To anyone looking for help, I suggest that you read Alixon's books, view her videos,
    try to get them in your local libraries, see if you can influence your PBS station to air the

    Note -- This book has an informative forward, numerous stories -- very personal
    accounts for anyone wanting the tears and smiles to flow -- and an afterword and
    8 appendices that are of utmost importance to read and share with whomever is
    important to you. You and they should have the information. Plus, you may wish
    to purchase a book for your doctor(s). Also, talk your library into purchasing copies!

    What you want is right there in Alison's book. I gain nothing from touting it, other
    than to know that you all will read something you won't be able to put down.
    And you'll likely see some aspect of yourselves in nearly every story.

  Remember the adage: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Only YOU can do
  something about poisoning your body, your air and the water downstream: STOP buying
  products containing petrochemically derived fragrances until the flavors and fragrance industry
  and the FDA can show us that these products are safe for the user . . . and everyone who
  comes in contact with the user. I might add, if you clean well, keep the area dry, add lots of fresh air
  and sunshine to the mix, you don't have to rely on pesticides to control dustmites.
