Tuesday, August 14th, 2001 - Distracted

I have so much to do, and so many distractions! I think it doesn't help that I really, really want to work on my fiction right now. I have a short story clamoring for its final rewrite and a novel that's been outlined to within an inch of its life, and yet I have non-fiction to work on. It's ok; the articles definitely pay soon after completion while the ficiton is an investment. But I feel like I've been writing nothing but non-fiction forever these days, and I want a break.

Yes, I owe lots of email. I'll get to it soon, I hope.

I'm finally reading some of Tim's novel again. I had to have him print me out a few chapters, as I just don't like reading long works on the computer, even though I can bring the laptop in bed with me. Anyway, now I'm really into the novel as well and I'm wondering if we'll have enough used paper to print the whole thing. It seems terribly wasteful, to use up so much paper, but I'm not truly a child of the techno age, I guess.

This novel, "Genius of Deceit", is fucking good. I'm not just saying that because Tim wrote it; hell, I often *forget* that my boyfriend is the author. I admire that about Tim, how he can write without it sounding like he's just touting his own beliefs. He's a very good chameleon, a better writer than I judged him at first to be. I'm learning so much from him, with him. It's so very cool.

Ah, I should go work some more kids. Have a lovely Tuesday!
