Next Heather Shaw David, who came by an hour later
with his recycling, woke me up. I really didn't want to crawl out of bed
and do recycling, but afterwards we sat in the living room on the couch of
wonder (wonder why it deposits you on the floor), enjoying the Xmas tree
and the lights and watching the Simpsons. David left and Todd, Jen and
Ellen came by around 7 and picked me up. I directed them downtown to
Ichi's Japon, where we proceeded to gourge ourselves on raw fish and such
(well, I think I'm the only one who gourged). Ichi gave me the picture of
myself that he had taken months ago, and I found the double on the wall
above the sushi bar. When we left, everyone agreed that it was an awesome
sushi place - reasonably priced, good, fresh fish, excellent presentation
and a great personality in Ichi himself. It was good to sit beside Todd
and Ellen - Ellen especially, as I got her talking a little bit about her
world travels. She looks like a smilely punk chick, and I think if I
didn't know more about her, I would've made wrong assumptions about her
intelligence and experience. And this time I remembered to dress down
(green cargo pants and my black barcelona t-shirt), so I didn't feel out
of place with Todd and his crowd. :-) Good people. They are good
people. I was on a protein, or maybe it was an omega-3 fatty-acid, high
afterwards, but they didn't come in to hang out. Oh well. The weird
thing is that I slept ok for the first 4 hours, then woke up and was
mildly stressing about stuff (money, mostly). I read for a bit, and
finally got back to sleep only to have distressing nightmares until
morning. Extremely annoying. Anyway, I do want to thank Tim for the
lovely red hawaiian girl ornament! She's just perfect for my tree - she
actually encompasses both the "cute" side and the elegant "Victorian" side
- ties it all together well. Anyway, she really makes me smile, thanks
again!

Tonight was nice. I came home through the blowing rain - nastier than it
usually is here in the Bay Area, plus I was wearing a skirt with a slit
that was no protection at all - to my nice warm bed. After stripping off
my confining office clothes, I curled up in my flannel-covered, feather
comforter and promptly fell asleep. Exercise log:
Lifted weights: chest and triceps. Did 20 minutes on the precor machine
and a 15 minute abs class.
Writing log:
Finished the third, fourth and final drafts of my article on Octavia
Butler for Strange Horizons.
