Warm Springs Dam is a comfortable, easy access re-enactment location next to Lake Sonoma in the North Bay that affords space for good camping, drill and battle scenarios. There is also plenty of parking, and some modern amenities such as bathrooms. But please note that weather conditions can change quickly in the Redwood Empire this time of year...so prepare for cold nights, and do not get caught off guard as in years past!
Thanks to the efforts of Lt. Tom Starr (event coordinator - tstarr@cmc.net 415-897-4803), Henry White and others in the north bay, they have announced the event at local schools, newspapers and on roadside billboards.
Battle times will be 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, 11am and 2pm on Sunday. We would like to encourage all ACWA members to attend this event for a weekend of reenacting, period camping and public engagement. Reenactors from all clubs (RACW, CHAS, NCWA, etc) are invited to join us! We already anticipate artillery support from CHAS.
Click on the thumbnails below to load the Healdsburg Flyer, News Release, camp layout and road map. Feel free to print and post the flyer in your local communities in the north bay. You can also click here for another Healdsburg website with more info about Warm Springs Dam.

Parking and Camping
Members can arrive anytime on Friday. Only above ground fires will be allowed and some wood will be provided. As in the past, reenactor parking will be in the area along the creek. The camps will be in the same location as last year with the Confederates immediately adjacent to the parking lot. Driving on the lawn IS ALLOWED ONLY in designated areas. Please be mindful of the sprinkler heads which are marked with flags. If any are broken it will be the responsibility of the brigade to pay for its replacement ($100 each). The Commanders or their delegates are responsible for maintaining the restroom nearest them and emptying the garbage from camp, during and after the event into the dumpsters. Gloves, plastic bags and paper goods will be provided.
Directions
Take 101 north past Santa Rosa and look for Healdsburg signs. Healdsburg is about 15 miles north of Santa Rosa. Take the Dry Creek Road off ramp and make a left after the off-ramp onto Dry Creek Road (head west). Stay on Dry Creek road for 11 miles as you pass through vineyards. When you see Warm Springs Dam and the Visitor's center, start looking for ACWA signs. If you start to go up a steep hill past the dam, you have gone too far! The best time to travel is generally late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
The traffic on Fridays on Highway 101 between 4 and 7 PM is quite wicked, these are Gale Haring's instructions for the back roads if those are the only times you can travel. If you hit too much traffic in the following areas, you can get off 101 at one of the following areas:
1) In Petaluma at the Petaluma Boulevard North; 2) In Cotati at Highway 116 west go under freeway all others go over; 3) In Rohnert Park at the Rohnert Park Expressway; 4) In Santa Rosa get off at, Hearn, HWY 12, or College Ave;
Go over the freeway then turn right on Stony Point. Take Stony Point to Piner, turn left on Piner. Go about one mile on Piner turn right on Futon to the 101-north ramp. This will put you back on the 101 above Santa Rosa, then follow the regular directions.
