This trip took place in July of 2000. A bunch of us went to Hawaii to hang out and celebrate our friend Ken's 40th birthday. Ken, Stephen and I took off early and went to Molokai and Lanai before joining everyone on Kauai. Molokai was fun. It's very rural, very beautiful and the colors of the landscape made me want to start painting again. Lanai was not fabulous--aside from the Garden of the Gods, the island is still recovering from the collapse of the pineapple industry. There are two swanky resorts (expensive!!) which don't offer much besides golf. Avoid them. Kauai was wonderful! Lots of beach, snorkeling, and great fish. We then spent 2 days on Oahu but I don’t have pictures of it. Honolulu was horrible, but we rented a car and got out of the city ASAP and found some fabulous snorkeling along the north shore.
