About Susie and Steve

Susie and Steve have a strong marriage.
Married since 1993, we have a firm belief in lifetime commitment. We communicate well with each other, and share a passion for the outdoors and environmental issues, teaching, community activism, comics, and old movies.

Susie loves being a full-time mom.
She is energetic, sweet and positive. In addition to caring for our son, she volunteers in teaching adults to read, arranging financial education seminars for women, and helping teenagers find computer jobs. A high school teacher for more than ten years, she expects to continue her career in education, when our children enter junior high school.

Susie grew up as a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, yet also volunteered in a museum and an old-age home as a teenager. While in college at Princeton University, she spent summers working as a cook in the Sierra Nevada mountains. She reads everything from history, novels, and poetry to Sports Illustrated and People. Susie likes to find starfish and collect shells while camping at the beach. Her secret wish is to write and illustrate a wilderness book.

Steve successfully balances his work
running an environmental consulting business with family. His flexible schedule allows him to be very involved in raising our children. Steve is thoughtful, kind and dependable, and has a gentle sense of humor.

Steve went to Yale University and then worked in Southeast Asia before returning ten years ago to California, where he grew up. He recently rode his bicycle 600 miles in seven days to raise money for charity. Steve takes Isaac to a toddlers' music class every Wednesday. He loves making up silly songs, often mixing blues, oldies, and nursery rhymes together in new and wonderful ways. His secret dream is to be a travel photographer.
