Dimond Message Board

Neighborhood Web Sites

Tim Chapman

The following quote is from a recent Oakland Tribune article:

"They're giving up sleep. Hobbies is probably another thing, and political scientists argue that parents are withdrawing from the community, participation in the PTA, Kiwanis, local democratic society," said David Maume, director of the Kunz Center for the Study of Work & Family at the University of Cincinnati."

This time crunch is one of the main reasons that I created the Dimond neighborhood web site. These neighborhood web sites will provide information to our neighbors 24 hours a day allowing them to identify those issues and events that they find interesting. They will be able to make a contribution to their community by posting messages on the web site, and by using the information provided by the site to schedule participation in events and meetings.

If the city would post more information on a City site that could be searched, the neighborhood site could link to the information that is relevant to the neighborhood.
