well, you head off for southern spain and you end up
in Italy. yes, so I was hitchiking towards spain,
thinking i would maybe spend some time in France, when
a truck driver who picked me up said he was headed for
Venezia (Venice), so I said, "why not?" Once in Venice I took a boat to another little island which is part of Venice to look for a hostel (what a joke, Venice is so full of people!). Sitting on the boat with the sun setting, seeing the romantic boats going by and the twinkling laughter of elegant ristorantes I thought I had landed in paradise. Three hours later after going on boat after boat and not finding a bed, not even at the nunnery, I realized I was in a very expensive place that everyone must think is paradise. Oh, but I love Venice. The first night I had to shell out way too many bucks for a crappy hotel and then luckily the last couple of nights I found accomodation outside the city. I live in a little cabin for super cheap. I also met a street performer named Andrea who dresses up like a statue. After several hours of searching for a musician I finally gave up and tomorrow I am going to try being a dancing statue. . . basically this means that I dress up like a pretty belly dancer doll and stand in a pose till someone throws money in my bucket at which point I "wake up" and play my zills and do a little dance. Hey, its really good money. and venice is expensive. so, I probably will only be here a couple more days and then I'm gonna continue on my zig zag journey. I loved all the personal letters i recieved and will most definitely reply personally next time I e-mail. I appreciate all the love, rituals, shimmies and sevillanas thrown my way. It means so much to me to be able to hear from home. love, Holly | ||
