Sunday, January 21st, 2001 - DayQuil + Dubya = Mellow Panic

A few of you seemed a little surprised I didn't mention the inauguration yesterday. To be honest, when I wrote that entry, I had just forgotten all about it. When I went into the kitchen and turned on NPR while I made fancy eggs, I heard their reports of the protests outside the capital, and I thought, "Oh, yeah, they're making it official today."

See, I think deep down, I just can't accep that this -- doofus -- is actually going to run this country. I think of him as a Ken doll for the Republican Party; we're swearing in the kids who are playing with him.

Actually, the reason I don't talk about it is because I'm scared, but I hope I'm overreacting. I want to cry out, "Dear Gods! There goes the environment!" but I instead hope that it can be checked by people like my mom (who volunteers for the Sierra Club Urban Sprawl committee and donates lots of time and effort towards saving the environment - Mom's so cool). Anyway, enough about W.

I should get back to work; I'm trying to get stuff done today, so I don't go into the work-week with a cluttered existence. In order to do this, I got up early (couldn't sleep anyway) and started on the DayQuil. I have to make myself rest every so often, just 'cause I know my body needs it. My birthday is coming up (Tuesday) and I want to evict these buggers before then.

Exercise log:

Not much yesterday, felt too crappy.

Writing log:

Thinking about it a whole lot.

I'm currently reading:

Starlight 2 anthology edited by Patrick Nielsen Hayden

Craig's Novel - 1st (rough) draft by Craig Foster-Parker
The first section blew me away; I'd forgotten how well Craig can do abstract thoughts - he really makes them jump off the page at you, come alive, etc.

My new PO Box is:

Heather Shaw
P.O. Box 13222
Berkeley, CA 94712-4222
