Ugh. Me no write pretty today, huh? Anyway, while I
didn't care for the opening band, The Jessica Will Band rocked. Seriously
gorgeous female vocals - both lead and backup. Talented musicians. Cute
men and hot women. Funky/bluesy/rocky music. Even if I didn't know Gail,
I'd go see them play again; I highly recommend them. I found out
today that my job is ending a week from tomorrow. This is not a
surprise; it was a temp job really, and should've ended mid-June. But now
I have to find some other job to float me until I can sub in
September. Sigh. Perusing jobs online I've come to the conclusion that I
really, truly hate day jobs. I've found a few interesting ones (including
a freelance indexer job that pays well and says telecommuting is ok), but
they seem too few and far between. And I've had no nibbles from the
resumes I've sent out. Sigh. I put the call into the temp agency, but
it's going to be a neat trick, telling them I can't type more than 4 hours
a day. I hate worrying about money, I really do. Yeah, I know. We all
hate it. Every other thing I talk about these days is my novel. If
you're one of the people I've "ruined" the plot for, then you're going to
be hearing me talk about it for months and months I think. Poor
Tim; every single time we talk I'm running a new plot point past him to
see
what he thinks. He may have created a monster by encouraging me in
this. And, boy, do I love him for it. I've never held so much of a
novel idea in my head before; it really does consume your brain. And,
since I won't be talking about it here (y'all can read it when it's done,
and, hopefully, published) I might be a little, well, "mmmpphhhhfff!" here
for awhile. Heh. I know; what else is new?

Of Bands and Books
Tuesday night I went to see Gail's Band (actually known as The Jessica Will Band). Just to
tie all the connections together for you, Gail is Karen's
sister. Anyway, Gail sings backup for the band, and since David knew her
pretty well from when he worked with her when she ran a cafe, he asked me
to go see them. Exercise log:
Hm . . .
Writing log:
Figured out the entire background history of the world of my novel by
brainstorming with Ian earlier this week. This prompted some
restructuring of the novel, the beginning of a new chapter outline, and
the urge to write. I honestly think I'm very close to being ready to
start writing the Prologue and Part 1; I have a scene-by-scene outline of
Chapter 1. I'm so very excited!
I'm currently reading:
Genuis of Deceit by Tim Pratt
Slowly, chapter by chapter :-)
Midnight Robber by Nalo Hopkinson
