I arrive at 12:30 to find the mirror
still
on the floor. Seems they forgot about it. Seems the glue takes awhile
to
stick properly. Seems like I'll be waiting another half an hour for
them
to fix it again. I wanted to go home to pack, but they wouldn't let
me. Finally I get in my car, sure that Holly is wondering where the
hell
I am. The rearview mirror is upside down. It still is, because I
decided the hell with it, they can fix it on Monday. Of course, it's a
pain to drive my car, but I made it to Santa Cruz ok, so,
y'know. Anyway, Holly wasn't at my house. As I'm frantically packing
I
get a tearful phone call from her - she's in Berkeley and she's feeling
very lonely. I sigh. I know how it feels, to be out here trying to
find
a job and make friends and feeling very lonely. I tell her if she takes
the bus back down, I'll hang out for a half an hour before I go. I want
to leave because of traffic, but I really haven't seen my sister much at
all since she's moved out here. Holly had sent me an email to make
these
plans, and I had emailed her back. She had neglected to tell me in her
first email that she wouldn't have access and that I should call
her. And
she just assumed that the plans in her first email were
ok. Sigh. Little
sister! I had such a nice time hanging out with Holly that I didn't
get
on the road for another hour and a half. She's the closest girlfriend I
have out here, and it was great to finally get to *really* brag about my
sex life with Tim (among other things). I know y'all probably think I'm
bragging all the time here, but that ain't nothin' compared to the
girltalk I'm capable of. Heh. So, that was the first part of
Thursday. I think I'll stop right there for now and update the rest
later; Tim and I have things we want to do today, and the day's a
wastin'. Oh, and happy belated Summer Solstice, y'all.

Upside down
Thursday was an exercise in frustration. I got in my car to drive to
work
so that I could leave quickly and meet Holly for lunch for a few hours
before driving to Santa Cruz to see my love, my Tim. The rearview
mirror
had fallen to the floor, and with my neck the way it's been lately, I
decided I really shouldn't be driving an hour and a half (or
more) without
a mirror. Besides, Ms. Sage (the car) has been wanting an oil change
for
months now. Usually I'm better about these things. So I stopped off
along my bus route at a oil change place. It's 8am, I make sure they
can
have the oil changed and the mirror reattached by noon. No problem at
all. I take the bus to work. Exercise log:
