Thursday, June 12th, 2003 - Beer makes it all better

So, last night I came home and hung out with Holly. She cooked me dinner (risotto and veggies) and we watched the god-awful-but-at-least-it-had-Reese-Witherspoon-in-it flick, Sweet Home Alabama. Holly has a pretty high "bad movie" tolerance, and even she was groaning; we fast-forwarded a lot.

Chatted with Tim. We were both a little drunk (I'd stopped and treated myself to: flowers, Newcastle Beer (they were out of Chocolate Stout) and Ben and Jerry's Half-n-half), and the conversation started out lovely. I actually felt like we were connecting again . I might not get to talk to him tonight, as I have plans, so I didn't want to let him off the phone. I could hear the river rushing in the background. It was lovely.

I'm so jealous. I want a vacation, dammit.

Anyway, work was hell again today -- my boss has decided to micromanage a couple of aspects of my job -- it sorta makes sense, what she wants us to do, but it's very nerve-wracking to have her standing over me part of the day, and, quite frankly, I hate it. Hopefully once we get all the paper-hunting and review-tracking nailed down this will cease, but I'm not holding my breath . . . Much of the mess we're cleaning up is from 2 years ago (before I worked here) and I hate cleaning up after people.

Anyway.

Slept a little better last night. Not sure about tonight. I'm not eating a lot of carbs this week, so I'm hungry late at night.

Going on a hike at night with my friend Todd, and I'm really a bit scared about the mountain lions. They *are* nocturnal, after all.

Wish me luck!

Do you run or freeze or try to make yourself look big or just play dead?
