Monday, June 30th, 2003 - A New Flat!

Poof! We have a new flat! We've only been looking at apartments for a week, and yet we have found the perfect one. It is a roomy one bedroom in an English Tudor House, and it's really quite the coolest thing ever. I'm so excited. There are three other apartments, but we don't even share a wall because staircases run down the middle of the house. Hardwood floors, nice molding (which she said will be painted) and walls that aren't white. She even said I could repaint if I wanted to! Oh, oh, and I get kittens! Not just one, but *two* kittens are perfectly fine! I'm so excited about the kittens! I haven't had a cat, haven't lived with one, in six years. I am a cat person! How have I survived this long? Give me kittens!

Hee. We're quite gidy. We keep looking at each other and giggling, "Hey, guess what? We have a new flat!"

Landlady is lovely, easy-going, nice, kinda fun. Very good vibe in the house, we met our basement neighbor who was gardening on her little patio. Ahhhh . . . no shouting or loud bangs or drunken sobbing on the street like we're used to, but large, nicely kept houses and quiet sidwalks, with an occasional dog-walker or what have you. The backyard has a brick patio, with a brick stove/ grill and a redwood tree and, oh, yes, a hammock.

I had to be the one to break the news to our current landlady, who looked sad. I think she thinks we're moving because of the honeysuckle. It's not the only reason.

I could go on, but my arms are really aching from work today and I need to rest them. But, well, yay! We have a new flat!

Home sweet home.
