Next Too bad as soon as I
dropped into a walk, I felt a pulled mucles in my hip/groin region. So,
this whole weekend has been an exercise is making myself use these muscles
gently. I went to the Lumin show Friday night and I sat on a hard floor
for awhile before dancing, neither of which are good for me. I did talk
to Laura for awhile, who told me about the production of Alice in
Wonderland her troupe is performing for Dickens Faire. Laura is very
sweet, and she made me feel like I actually have some good connections in
this area (which I do; I just don't have the confidence to pull any
strings). Anyway, she made me want to do theatre again, and maybe I
will. I actually got a lot of stuff done on Saturday. Aron left to play
ultimate frisbee, so when I came out of my room, Jen was alone putting up
our new kitchen shelving (Sharon, who just moved out after subletting to
Jen for a year, took all her old furniture; it looks like we've been
robbed!). I offered her help, but she declined saying she had only one
wrench/plier thing. "I have one of those, or something like it." I said,
and went to fetch my bike wrench. Together we bolted the thing together,
and drilled on the supports. I think of Jen as very butch, but I had
better luck with the screw pusher that Elle loaned me than Jen did; I
think it's just because I had recent practice with the bookcase/L
brackets. Anyhow, we cleaned out the kitchen corner and carried them over
and it just looks so open! The old setup made poor use of the space, and
the new arrangement makes the kitchen much less claustrophobic
feeling. Yay! Inspired by Jen's industriousness (and in a rhythm from
putting away my food stores) I proceeded to make a dutch apple pie, clean
out my closet (a huge undertaking I only half undertook, making it merely
very large), and cleaned up around my room. I was covered in sweat when
David came over around 5:30 for gardening. We futzed with computer stuff
first (I think I lost my old IIsi, which means my submission log is gone
forever. Sigh). Anyhow, we gardened, then made a tasty dinner of white
bean quesadillas, garden fresh salsa and chips. With hot apple pie for
dessert (David said it was one of my best, mainly because the inside was
not runny, but a perfect gooey consistency). My neighbors/landlord were
having a party on their deck, which is literally 5 feet from my bedroom
wall (the wall the headboard of my bed rests against). It got louder as
the night grew later, and I finally convinced David to allow me crash
space at his place for the night. I slept there much, much better than I
expected (I was pretty beat), and was all cheery and well-rested by the
time I got home this morning. So, for today I'm thinking I'll put up
some shelving I have sitting around. I still have the stud-finder and
screw pusher (no, not a drill; it has no bits; I suppose I should say
"electric screwdriver", huh?), but I need to return them later
today. Yeah, I think it's time for some more girl-power. Chat with
ya'll tomorrow.
May this little void be the source of all Heather's depression?

I ran a mile. At least a mile. I'm not exactly sure how far it is, but
this is the distance I used to try and run/walk last spring and I never
could make it for very far running. But I decided to see if the
elliptical machine has any practical benefits, so I ran the whole way out
before turning around to walk back. I've never been able to run a mile
easily, and this was still pretty hard, but I made it. I didn't let
myself stop, and I even started to hit a stride. Exercise log:
Ran about a mile, nonstop, in Aquatic Park at lunch on Friday. Could
barely walk by that evening; I think I pulled muscles in: my shins, my
quads and my groin/hip. Argh!
