Saturday, October 30th, 1999 - The night before Halloween
Have I ranted here about how much I love Halloween? How I love the creative burst I get from mid to late October, as I decide what new costume to add to my collection. I love being someone else, wearing something showy and pretty that I'd never (well, hardly ever) wear otherwise. I love showing up at a party and not being able to pick out the people there you know right away. I love how everyone has a conversation starter: "Oooh, what are you?" I love seeing people's darker side, zanier side, opposite sex side, whatever side, I love seeing masks and makeup. And capes and pointy hats and fake blood. And sparkles. And wigs.

Oh, the wig reminded me: Rebecca had my favorite costume this year, I think. She had a bouffant blond wig and a leather dress with a S&M belt from which various kitchen tools and whips and feathers hung. She handed out cards that read:

"Martha Stewart
Dominatrix and Decorating"

It's 2:25am, so it's technically Halloween already. I have all sorts of stuff to write about, but I should go to bed soon.

Holly, I'm calling my belly-dancer character "Salome" in honor of you.
