Speaking of wonderful soul-mates in my life (jeez, my
life is rich these days in beautiful people!), have I mentioned lately how
wonderful Tim is? Friday
he came home late from work. I was getting a little annoyed, as I worry
too much and he didn't call until a half an hour after he was due home.
I could tell from the bus noises in the background that he wasn't still
"working late at work". But, I do trust Tim not to lie to me (I mean, any
affairs he wants to have he can tell me about, so I knew it wasn't
that); I could just tell something was up. So, my beautiful live-in
boyfriend comes home 20 minutes later with a vanilla blended latte and a
gorgeous bouquet of blue and yellow flowers! It's been awhile since
anyone brought me flowers for no big reason. I was thrilled beyond
reason, cooing over the lovely lilies and gazing into the blue eyes of my
love. The rest of the weekend has continued in this fashion, with moments
where I just have to stop and look at Tim and count my blessings. Last
night he snuggled under the blankets and I swear I've never seen anything
cuter in my life. It may be work weekend, but we've been so tender and
loving that it feels almost like the beginning of a
relationship. I did hang out with Susan yesterday (yet another
beautiful person in my lucky life these days) and during part of our
conversation I marvelled over having a boyfriend. I'm used to being the
single girl, the one who hangs out with couples and dates occasionally but
hasn't had a steady boyfriend in years. It's very weird to be the one
with a boyfriend; I love it, but it's a role I'm still getting used
to. It's funny, however, how I can commiserate with her about recent
breakups; my estrangement from my old friend feels like a recent breakup,
and we have surprisingly similar feelings about some things. It helps, of
course, that I just like Susan and would have things in common with her
even if parts of our life didn't seem parallel in some ways. Anyway, we
hung out,
winced as the window repairman made glass breaking noises in her kitchen
and fled to Michael's as soon as he was done. She bought yarn for
knitting and I bought more glass painting supplies (after discovering that
opaque colors aren't the look I was going for). I love having a friend
who understands, who *shares* my crafty inclinations; it's something Tim
just doesn't get into, I'm afraid. Back to Tim, and a dinner of
yummy sandwiches from A.G. Ferrari and a good movie on video ("Things to
Do in Denver When You're Dead", a surprisingly good gangster movied; we've
been on this gangster kick lately). We both stayed up late, playing
Diablo and shagging. Mmmm. This morning (er, afternoon, by the time
we awoke) I was going to cook breakfast for him but discovered that I had
only one egg (thus nixing the idea of fancy scrambled eggs and halving the
pancake recipe that calls for 2 eggs). Tim announced that our path was
clear and took me out to Mama's (even though we had our Mama's brekkie the
day before)! What a sweetheart! Okay. So, now I'm home and
procrastinating. I have to finish Holly's poem and start the Indy guide
before our date tonight. And I should figure out something cheap to do on
our date. Cheap and fun. So, have a lovely rest of your weekend and I'll
chat with you all soon.
Under the Daddy Tree an article on Nalo Hopkinson's Midnight
Robber in Strange
Horizons. Warning: If you haven't read the book,
this article will spoil all the plot twists for you; so go buy her book
and read it first!

Happy Birthday Holly!
Congrats on reaching a quarter of a century to my little
sister! I wrote
her a poem, but I'll have to wait to post it here, just in case Holly
reads this page today (doubt it; she's got better things to
do). Happy Birthday to my best friend in the world, my little sister
soul-mate. Exercise log:
Got into the gym on Friday! Stretched, lifted very light weights (which
wasn't a good idea) and did 15 minutes on the precor (and my ankles are
screaming). Yay me!
Writing log:
Wrote a poem for Holly that needs editing.
Current Publications:
San
Francisco City Guide at EGrad.com. Please note that my original
article was twice as long as this one, and I wasn't the one who did the
editing. I've already sent in the correction on the date of the
Mexican-American war in the first paragraph, which must've been a typo
during the editing process as well.
I'm currently reading:
Expiration Date by Tim Powers
Okay, so I'm just reading the very rough
first draft of the chapters fresh off the 'puter, but damn, it's already
good!
