Today, I am up and awake and working at 9:15am! This, I know, is late in the day for some of you, but remember that I've been sleeping until, oh lords, noon or 1pm most of the past week. Actually, the past two days I've woken up with a horrible headache; the first day I thought it was just an unrelated migraine, but yesterday I decided that maybe I really was sleeping too much. So, today I got up early.

This is kinda exciting, y'all. I mean, I have my whole day ahead of me! I might actually get some stuff done today. Write some fiction, write some non-fiction (which pays). Get my ass into the gym. Whoo-hoo!

So, yesterday I started cleaning/sorting stuff around here and I found a bunch of glassware that I had been intending to make into a stained glass mosaic candle holder. That particular project is something I used to do in Indiana with my friend Shel, and we sold them at Phish shows (sometimes making enough to pay for the tickets, the campground fees, food, drink and other recreation and still had some left over to barter for other cool stuff with). However, in Indiana I had more time, a bigger front porch, warmer summer nights and infinitely more patience. Slower lifestyle. I also wasn't trying to be a writer during that time.

Anyway, the point of all this is that I decided to get all inspired by Mary Anne's glass painting projects and invest in some glass paints. It seemed like an easier way to convert these glasses into pretty candle holders: less mess, less time-cosuming and less likely to cut the tips of your fingers to shreds. The verdict so far: it's fun. I honestly didn't get very far, because getting up at 1pm, going to the new Michael's Arts and Crafts store (which will be where I'm spending much of my money when I have money again) and showering before Tim got home left me only about a half an hour of painting time. Today, however, I'll have more time!

Last night Susan came over for a traditional Italian evening of lasagne and Family Business. Very fun, which is par for the course when Susan is involved. We got into a discussion of religion and spirituality, which is something I don't discuss all that often these days.

So, this weekend Tim swears he's going to write 30,000 words in 3 days. I hope for his sake he does, as it will make him all bouncy and happy to be writing again. I'm feeling a little guilty for giving him my extra Diablo CD (I had it for both PC and Mac . . . long story); he's on like level 16 or something. Anyway, I'm going to let his writing binge influence me, but I'm also realistic; no way my broken paws are going to be able to write for 5 hours straight three days in a row. Tim thinks that I should bring him tea and popcorn when I'm not writing. Maybe. But I'm also making plans with Holly and Susan to go do things that don't cost a lot of money.

Oh! And it's Holly's 25th birthday this Sunday! Holy shit, my baby sister is a quarter of a century old! 'Course, I don't get to celebrate with her on the actual day (even though this is the first time in 4 years we've been in the same place on her birthday), because she's doing boyfriend-only things. S'ok, we'll hang on Monday.

And that's it for my disjointed journal entry for today. Have a lovely Friday!

Exercise log:

Cough-cough. Ahem.

Writing log:

Lots on the plate, little accomplished aside from the stuff below.

Current Publications:

San Francisco City Guide at EGrad.com. Please note that my original article was twice as long as this one, and I wasn't the one who did the editing. I've already sent in the correction on the date of the Mexican-American war in the first paragraph, which must've been a typo during the editing process as well.

Under the Daddy Tree an article on Nalo Hopkinson's Midnight Robber in Strange Horizons. Warning: If you haven't read the book, this article will spoil all the plot twists for you; so go buy her book and read it first!

I'm currently reading:

Expiration Date by Tim Powers

Rangergirl by Tim Pratt
Okay, so I'm just reading the very rough first draft of the chapters fresh off the 'puter, but damn, it's already good!

My new PO Box is:
