A bunch of people from Lomé neighborhoods or outskirting villages will get together to fish. They cast nets off the very steep beach just outside the Lomé Grand Marché. The steepness of the coast line creates a dangerous undertow and makes pulling in the nets extreemly difficult. Passers-by will help with the pull in exchange for getting some of the catch for themselvs.
