Friday, April 19th 2002 - Moon Pies

Yesterday was a very good day for me and poetry. Sometime in the mid-afternoon I got an acceptance from Strange Horizons for my poem "Children of the Moon". I wrote this poem way back in college for a creative writing class, and it's nice to be offered $20 for it after all these years :-) So, already on a high from having a poetry accepted, 5 minutes later I get an email from Erin Donahoe inviting me to submit poetry to her invite-only anthology. Very encouraging day for poetry.

Thinking that I should probably try to write some new poetry soon, I attempted to do so on the BART ride home. Yick. Poetry is just not one of those things one should try and force out, you know? I'm hoping to be suitably inspired this weekend; I don't have much time until that anthology closes.

Hm, let's see, hung out with Susan last night, causing me to wonder once again why we let so long go between times we hang out; we always have such a fine time. She's considering having a girls' night every once in awhile, which would be way fun; I can't remember the last time I had a good girls' night with a bunch of cool women (or uncool women for that matter, but you know what I mean).

Really, the whole purpose of this journal entry was to announce my sale. I'll try to do a proper update over the weekend, but for now I need to get dressed and off to work. Happy Friday everyone!
