So, last night was one of those pleasant nights where
everything just sorta works out well. I came over to
David's apartment after work to fix dinner before borrowing
his computer (and his oh-so-fast 28.8 modem...MUCH nicer
than my piddly 14.4!) so I could do the Clean Sheets chat at
6pm. This worked out nicely, as I had all the ingredients
for an Asian Rice bowl 'cept sesame oil and rice, and David
had those. David had been planning to scrape together a
dinner of fancy eggs, so it was nice to get to feed him
too. The chat went well. I especially enjoyed the "second hour" when I got to chat with Shmuel as well as Chip, who is a regular reader here at the Nid (it always surprises me to meet a regular reader, even though I know I've got about 2 dozen of you out there...thanks for reading!). Honestly, I can't remember too much of the conversation, and I always wish I had a transcript afterwards (even though I know I'd just file it away and someday wonder why I saved it...). At one point it was just the three of us in the room, and I was whispering to each of them AND having a "public" conversation with both in the main room...zany. Oh, and I especially enjoyed hearing Chip's comments on my sister, Holly. He said that it really comes across how brave she is, in my journal and her travel notes (he said it much more eloquently, but I don't have that transcript on me, remember?). It made me really proud of her, hearing that...thanks, Chip! After the chat, Alex invited me over to hang out. Now, Alex is that photographer I mentioned awhile back that I had met at a party and never got to talk with to my satisfaction. I ran into him again this Tuesday at yoga class, so I finally am getting a chance to get to know him. He seems really cool. Ok, I'm going to resist the urge to write a "review" of the evening. Mainly we just hung out and got to know each other. One thing that I just can't get over: he's a certified massage therapist. I've been suffering mightily from a neck crink all week long. Yesterday I went home a little early because it hurt so badly I couldn't think straight. I've been working with a hot water bottle balanced/draped/sopping over my shoulder. It fuckin' hurt. Alex had me lie down on my back, and used pressure point techniques similar to, but much more effective than, my chiroproactor's. I was floating when he was done, and I made sure to try and sleep carefully (ha) later on when I went home and went to bed. Today, it's much better. Still tender, but the searing pain is gone. I can look to the right and left (which makes driving much safer). I'm impressed. | ||
