Sunday, January 20th, 2002 - Blue Crab Dip

I'm not sure what kind of journal entry this is going to be. I wanted to announce that it's the start of my birthday week (whoo!); I'll be 29 on Wednesday, yes, for the first (and probably only) time. My birthday party, which is a tradition I've held since moving out here because it reminds me of how many wonderful new friends I've made out here, is probably not going to be until Feb 2nd, mainly because of scheduling difficulties.

I'm not as excited about my birthday this year as I usually am, mainly because I'm sick. I'm also pretty depressed lately, but that might have to do with illness (I kinda hope so). This weekend wasn't a *horrible* weekend, but the migraine-to-bad-headache that has been hanging around since Friday isn't helping much. Friday night I awoke around 5am unable to breathe correctly because of coughing/ nasty lungs. I stumbled around in the dark, grabbed the bottle of generic NyQuil and swallowed a bunch. A bunch. Usually I take NyQuil before bed, and I am pretty good at measuring it by swigging, but at 5am, I'm not so good at it. Add to that the fact that I was getting up only 5 hours later (or so), and you have one very hungover Heather on Saturday. Gods, it was horrible, the fog that I walked around in on Saturday.

I still managed to make it to Tot's birthday party Saturday evening (thank god Tim drove, though). It was neat to see bunches of people, coo over babies and such. Par (yes, it needs proper accenting, which I can't do in telnet) offered Gin and Tonics, which actually helped clear my head; we assume this is a "hair of the dog" effect. Karen gave away lots of stuff, which I'm a sucker for (yay, free stuff). Tim and I really scored, with a picnic basket and a blue crab sculpture that is my new favorite thing in the living room (so cute!).

Anyway. We stayed up late watching Magnolia (good movie!) and talking. Today I woke up with a migraine. Ugh. After it faded a bit, I caffeinated, we cleaned and ate and stuff.

Gods. This is an awful entry. I keep having to back up and correct my typing. My head still hurts. Ugh.

I'll try to write something more coherent soon. Until then, have a nice week, y'all.
