Anyway. That's it for money talk. I
promise. Let's see, the past week had Halloween in it, though Tim and I
stayed home and watched movies that night. We've really been pretty homey
lately, although I guess we ate dinner out every night this week except
Thursday, when we actually cooked together. Friday night we went out
to Chevy's, a nostalgia trip for both of us; we were both craving good,
blandish chain food and Chevy's really hit the spot. Honestly, I feel a
little ashamed at how nice a time Tim and I had at Chevy's - especially
since the service was awful (they brought me a virgin margaritta, never
refilled the water, charged me for cheese I ordered but never got, charged
for the virgin drink even though they finally took it away and replaced it
with a real one, which we were also charged for). But the food was good
enough and we were in a good mood. Perhaps it was comforting, reminding
both of us of chain restaurants back home (although the location, in
the Emeryville marina, was anything but Midwestern with the Bay
glittering nearby). But I was practically skipping with joy after
dinner. After dinner, a moive. We saw what probably is the last
first-run showing of The Others, mainly because it was the only movie we
could agree on. We were somewhat frightened by the signs announcing Harry
Potter tickets are already on sale, two weeks ahead of
release. Sigh. The movie (The Others) was a pretty good movie, although
I figured out the twist well before it was revealed. Anyway, the movie
was well-done and reasonably entertaining, which is more than I can say
for From Hell, which we saw last weekend. The plan for today is to eat,
work, watch the Simpsons (although I wonder if they'll be on, what with
game 7 tonight), and, hopefully play. Tim has it in his head that he's
got to work all day long, which means he'll be grumpy if he doesn't get a
lot of stuff done. So, I'm trying to focus on work, too. I think I'll
finish Goat Girl, send some stories out that were recently rejected, that
sort of thing. I should also review a porn which we watched
yesterday; whoo-hoo! Anyway, I'll leave you with a snippet of
conversation between me and Tim earlier this week that struck me as
amusing. We were in bed, but I had to get up and take out my contacts and
brush my teeth, wash my face. Tim has this nasty habit of falling asleep
by the time I get back, but tonight we were having a good conversation
that I wanted to continue once I got back:
I want you to be awake when I get back,
ok? Tim: So? I
want a pony. Heather: You do not want a
pony. Tim: No,
you're right. . . . I want a robot! Heather: Ok, yes, you want
a robot. Tim: Oooh, I want a robot
pony! Heather: You don't
want a robot pony. Tim: Yes, I do! It'd be soooo cool! It
could have thumbs!! Heather (oookay, I'll bite): Why
would you want your robot
pony to have thumbs, sweetie? Tim (patiently): So it
could hold a blaster. Much laughter ensues. As she catches her
breath, Heather continues the conversation: You're
such a
boyish
boy. Tim: No, I'm
not. Liking ponies is a girlish thing to like. Heather:
Not robot ponies with blasters.

Oh, dear, I didn't mean for a whole week to go by without updating
here! I suppose you can say I'm getting used to working full time
again; I certainly feel exhausted when I come home at night, and the last
thing I want to do is sit for long periods of time at the computer. In
fact, I think the only times I've been at my computer at home this week
was to do email checks and balance my checkbook. Nice to be able to pay
bills again. Too bad I didn't get a job a week earlier, though, as this
week all the credit card companies decided to start their harrassing phone
calls; Discover was such a bully they got me to pay my bill twice, which
really pissed me off (yes, the story is longer than that, but it's really
boring, so I spare you). Exercise log:
Not much to report. However, this week Tim is getting a membership to the
Y and we're going to endeavor to meet there 2-3 times a week after
work! Huzzah! Peer Support!
Writing log:
I'm afraid the workweek doesn't leave me feeling much like writing in the
evenings. However, I have some new cool stuff for my novel and I know how
the second-to-last-scene of Goat Girl goes, so, you know, I've been
thinking.
