In preparation for the NATIONAL QUEER ARTS FESTIVAL, Kyra Rice joins forces with the dance prowess and gentle mind of Michael Velez. Together they reach into the belly of the beast to reveal and challenge the breakdown of immunities - corporeal to global - and for connectivity to something greater than the self. Its a journey beginning with themselves and with each other, using shared resources, evolving in the body and love as their primary means of survival.

a work in progress..
An evening of new work by Kyra Rice and Kerstin Stewart

December 3 & 4 at 8PM
The Garage 975 Howard St. San Francisco

Working from the assumption that we live in a time when we need to re-imagine our place in the world--how we interact with ourselves, each other and the earth--we create dances of disciplined freedom. Through meditations of symmetrical contact* and scored improvisations revealing authentic emotional states, we gently dismantle the barriers between performance and ritual in order to reconnect with nature--our human nature. 'To remember our beginnings and keep in mind our ever-elusive destination.' (Ben Okri)

*Meditations on symmetrical contact inspired by Maria F. Scaroni's and Jess Curtis' Symmetry Transmission.
