OBJECTIVE:
Students will spend part of the period in the midi lab learning
the notes of the piano. They will also receive a primer in the Garage
Band recording software program. Students will review their
basic music theory.
LITERACY:
Students will read each otheršs rough drafts of their letter to
the school board and give creative input and proof read for corrections.

OBJECTIVE:
Students will continue familiarizing themselves with the piano keyboard
and Garage Band in the midi lab. Once familiar with Garage Band
students will set their songs/raps from week two to it.
TOPIC:
Students will be asked to play several simple scales and chords
on their keyboard instruments. They will be exposed to the three
chord blues progression.
LITERACY:
Students will finalize their music letters to the school board.

will pick a song off of one of the three web sites to transcribe.
They will use Garage Band to redo the song in a modern hip-hop setting.

Violence
reflected in music. Students will discuss lyrics that contain violence
content such as Eminem.
LITERACY:
Students
will reflect on a song that deals with violence in society. They
will be asked to write a position as to whether or not violent lyrics
contribute to violence in society or are they able to be enjoyed
for their sole entertainment value.

also be given a short listen quiz in which they must identify the
composer/ composition and what particular movement that composer
belonged to based on the musical examples played. Students will
then perform for the class their Garage Band projects.
